VANC
The
Victorias Association of
Northern California is
a non-profit organization founded in Northern California,
USA, set up to help the
needy citizens of Victorias City. Since its charter
on January 1999, VANC has
successfully raised funds for a pilot Scholarship
Project in cooperation
with the Victorias City Government.
VANC
and its members have provided
financial support to the
Senior Citizen's Center
in Victorias, the homeless
women of the Damas dela
Caridad Victorias Chapter
and facilitated feeding
programs for the orphans
& street children under
the care of the Italian
nuns and the Immaculate
Conception Health Center.
In
addition to the participation
of VANC members in fund
raising programs in the
States, several members
and officers have joined
in the annual city fiesta
celebrations of Victorias
by sponsoring a Hawaiian/Carribean
Night, proceeds of which
are donated to chosen charitable
institutions. VANC President
Oscar Roldan says that "With
the generosity of countless
Samaritans, the cooperation
of (our) Victorias Association
of California, Inc. (VACI)
counterparts, the heartfelt
hospitality of the Victorias
City officials, & the
overwhelming welcome of
our fellow Victoriahanons,
we continue to grow stronger
and more united in our efforts."
In a letter last May 2002,
Mr. Roldan mentioned that
the membership of VANC
is not limited solely to
Filipinos living in the
States. According to him,
the organization has been
joined by Americans who
are, in their own right
good samaritans willing
to help those in need,
regardless of race or color.
The
Victorias Association of
California, Inc is responsible,
among other things, for the donation of 4 personal
computers and printer which
have been installed in the City Library and hooked
up to provide internet
access to researchers. |
