Representatives from the City of Victorias’ Gender and Development Focal Point System “GFPS" and Technical Working Group participated in the EMPOWER-HER: Feminist Business Development Workshop organized by the City of Victorias in partnership with BAYI Inc., at the Pavilion I, Victorias Aquatic Center, April 11.

Themed “Harnessing and Enabling Resilient Women-Owned Enterprises,” the workshop forms part of the Bayi Tiangge Implementation Project, aimed at empowering women-owned micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the city.

During the workshop, participants learned how to rebrand their programs and initiatives using the Bayi Tiangge Model, review existing local government policies and business support programs, and develop action plans for promoting women’s economic empowerment.

The Action Planning Workshop, facilitated by BAYI Inc. Consultant Rachelle Leones, guided participants in identifying the roles and support mechanisms of the local government, BAYI Inc., and other stakeholders in advancing their business initiatives.

Another key session, led by Leizel Lectura of the University of the Philippines Center for Women and Gender Studies, focused on how the BAYI Tiangge initiative can best address the specific needs of women entrepreneurs in Victorias.

Through group discussions and visioning exercises, participants explored suitable business models for their locality and examined the challenges they face.

The workshop began with opening remarks from Maya Tamayo, Co-Executive Director of BAYI Inc., who warmly welcomed the participants.

This was followed by a message from Victorias City’s Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer Paolo Valladarez, JD, MBA, who emphasized the city’s commitment to creating spaces for women-led businesses to thrive.

The EMPOWER-HER Workshop marks a significant step in advancing inclusive local economic development in Victorias City.

By equipping women entrepreneurs with the right tools, knowledge, and network of support, the city and BAYI Inc. continue to foster a resilient, gender-inclusive business environment where Victoriasanon women can prosper and lead lasting change in their communities. *
